God of Fire by Don Carlos This series has a somewhat more robust flavour than the Serie Aniversario, with a medium body and subtly sweet, slightly peppery taste. Don Carlos is arguably the most well-rounded of the God of Fire cigars, perfect for almost any time of day, any occasion, any smoker and any taste. Wrapper: Ecuadorian. Filler and Binder: Dominican.
Arturo Fuente cigars are among the finest premium sticks in production today. To give the God of Fire line an added layer of class, they partner with the cigar accessory company Prometheus, named for the god bold enough to steal fire from Zeus and gift it to humankind. For the project, Arturo Fuente produces these cigars in the Dominican Republic. Prometheus designs and manufactures the beautiful, highly detailed black and red boxes that sport a version of the Prometheus Bound painting. This painting displays Prometheus strapped to a boulder while an eagle attacks him for all eternity. The lesson here is don’t steal, especially from Zeus.
The God of Fire line began as a friendly father and son competition between Carlos Fuente and his son, Carlito. While the filler blends are similar, Carlos opted for a hearty Ecuadorian Habano wrapper where Carlito went with a seductive Cameroon. Key to the God of Fire line and God of Fire by Don Carlos cigars is balance and complexity. The harvested tobacco crop first hangs in curing barns to aid the moisture evaporation process. After six weeks, these leaves then ferment for some time. They then age for years before finding their way into God of Fire smokes.
But the aging doesn’t stop there. After rolling the cigars, they age for two to three additional years to increase the complexity and balance of the blend. This post-production aging is necessary because, at this point, the cigars are still developing. As they mature, the components of the cigars find balance and unity, which greatly increases the overall taste.
According to the God of Fire website, God of Fire by Don Carlos cigars are “arguably the most well-rounded” of the brand. The cigars start with one of the previously mentioned Ecuadorian Habano wrapper leaves. This covers up a Dominican binder and long-fillers. Expect flavor notes of spice, pepper, nuts, and sweetness. Like most of the God of Fire offerings, these cigars are balanced, complex, and smooth with a long finish.
